What is Boromlia? Boromlia is timeline software, licensed as a hosted web application. You put in events, and each one carries a date, a place, photos and whatever you want to write. Those same events then draw in multiple styles: a vertical timeline, a horizontal ribbon, a map, a deck of cards, a chart of what overlapped what, a table you can sort, and a printable A4 document. It runs in your browser, and there is nothing to install.
Who is it for? Anyone who keeps a record of things in the order they happened and needs to read it back later. Teams use it for project records, product roadmaps and company histories; lawyers for case chronologies; researchers, journalists and teachers for their subjects; and families, travellers and writers for a family history, a trip or a life. Each of those has its own page among the use cases, with a real timeline to read.
Is it a timeline maker? Yes, and a little more than one. You make a timeline the way you would in any timeline maker: add events, choose a style, then share or print the result. The difference is that Boromlia keeps your events as a record rather than as a drawing. Each one has its own date, place, photos and source, so the same timeline can be redrawn as a map or as cards, filtered, and kept up to date for years.
What makes it different? Three things. Every event carries its evidence: a date, a place with real coordinates, photos, and a source in a field of its own. You enter each event once and read it in multiple styles, from a vertical timeline to a map or a printable document, without typing anything twice. And it is built to be kept: private until you publish, then readable by whoever you choose. Why Boromlia sets it beside a spreadsheet, a slide and a Gantt chart.
Is there anything to download? What file format is it? Boromlia is a hosted service rather than a product you download, so there is no file and no format. Your timelines live in your account, and you reach them by signing in at boromlia.com from any browser. Photos are kept as JPEG copies of what you upload, up to 1,920 pixels on the longer side.
How many events can I have? It depends on the plan. The free plan is one timeline of up to 20 events. Each timeline slot you buy adds one more timeline of up to 50 events. Advanced, Business and Founding Member remove both ceilings for the timelines made on them. A timeline keeps the limit it was created with, so one made on the free plan still holds 20 events after an upgrade: start a new timeline for the bigger record.
Can events have durations? Yes. Tick Span event in the event form and the event takes an end date and time as well as a start, or bring ranges in with an import on Advanced, from an Ends or a Duration (days) column. Single dates and ranges sit on one shared axis, and the Spans style draws the ranges as bars, to show what overlapped what. The time scale runs from seconds to years, set per timeline, and dates before the common era are entered as BC.
Can I add locations? Yes, on every plan. Give an event a place by searching for it by name, by putting a pin on a map, or by typing its latitude and longitude. The Map style then draws the events as numbered waypoints along one route, with a choice of route line and base map. Photos uploaded in bulk bring their GPS position with them, so a trip or a site visit arrives already placed.
Can I add images? Yes, on every plan. An event holds up to 10 photos from its form: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP or HEIC, up to 10 MB each, kept as JPEG copies. Or upload up to 300 at once: the bulk upload reads each photo's date and GPS position, looks up the place, and groups the photos into events by time and place. You can download them all again as a zip with a manifest.
Can I import spreadsheets? Yes, on Advanced. Save the sheet as CSV, TSV or TXT, match its columns to the event fields, and tick the rows you want in the preview before anything is saved; duplicates are skipped. Up to 1,000 rows go into the timeline you have open at a time. An Excel or Numbers file has to be saved as CSV first, and photos are not carried in the file, so they are added afterwards.
Can I add sources? Yes. Every event has a source field of its own, for a document, a record, an archive reference or a link, and "has a source" is one of the filters, so the events with nothing behind them are easy to find before you publish.
What is the difference between River, Cards, Map, Spans, Ribbon, Log and Doc? They are the same events, drawn different ways. River is the vertical timeline, with the events on either side of a winding line. Cards shows a whole period at a glance. Map makes every event a waypoint on one route. Spans puts bars and points on one shared axis, to show what overlapped what. Ribbon runs the whole story in one horizontal line. Log is a table you can sort, one row per event. Doc lays the timeline out as an A4 document. River, Cards, Map and Spans are on every plan; Ribbon, Log and Doc come with Advanced.
Do I have to enter my events again for each style? No. You enter each event once, and switching style changes how the record reads, never what it holds. Edit an event and every style redraws with the change.
What is Play? Play the story shows a timeline full screen, one moment at a time from the oldest, with each event's photographs first. It works on every plan and on any timeline you can read, so it is a way to present a record as well as to keep one. It is not part of an embed.
Can I publish a timeline? Yes, on Advanced. Set the timeline to Public in its settings and it becomes a page anybody can read, with no account. A public timeline is also listed on this site, among the examples and in the sitemap, so search engines can find it. To let only certain people read it, share it instead.
Can I keep a timeline private? Yes. A timeline is private from the moment you make it, and it stays that way until you decide otherwise. Sharing, which comes with Advanced, gives you a read-only link: whoever you send it to can read the timeline without an account, and nobody without it can see it. If you want them to add events too, switch that on in the timeline's sharing settings.
Can I embed it? Yes, on Advanced. One iframe tag puts a public or shared timeline inside another page, with no script and no key. The embed reads the live timeline, so an edit shows up on the other site without pasting the code again.
Can someone work on a timeline with me? Yes, on Advanced. Share the timeline and switch on adding events in its sharing settings: whoever opens the link and signs in can then contribute, and can always edit what they added. You can also let them edit everyone's events or change the timeline itself. There is no seat to buy for each of them.
Who owns the timelines and photos I create? You do. Everything you upload and write stays yours. I hold no more of a licence than it takes to store it and show it back to you, and to anyone you have given a link. That licence ends the moment you delete the content or close the account.
Can I export my data? Yes, on every plan, the free one included. Export a CSV of every field, download the photos as a zip with a manifest, or print the style you are reading, or save it as an A4 PDF. Your record is never locked inside the drawing.
What happens if I stop paying? Nothing is deleted. Advanced runs to the end of the month you paid for. After that, each timeline slot you own keeps one of your timelines editable, oldest first, with all its events; the timelines no slot covers become read-only. They still open in every style, export, and keep any share link or embed working, and editing comes back the moment you renew or buy a slot. Slots themselves never expire.
Can I delete my account? Yes. Use Request account deletion on your profile page, or email support@boromlia.com, and the account and its data are removed within 30 days. Purchase records are kept for as long as Ukrainian tax law requires. Export anything you want to keep first.
Does Boromlia have AI? No. Boromlia calls no AI model, your timelines are not sent to any AI service, and your content is not used to train one. It is the place where checked, sourced facts are kept, and it works beside whichever assistant you already use.
Can ChatGPT work with my timeline? Yes, with what you give it. Export the timeline as a CSV and hand the file to ChatGPT, Claude or any other assistant to summarise it, check it or look for gaps. A public timeline is also an ordinary web page that assistants which read the web can open, and the site publishes an llms.txt file that describes it for them.
Can I update a Boromlia timeline using my own AI? Yes, through a file, on Advanced. Ask your assistant to write the new events as CSV with the column names Boromlia's export uses, such as When, Name, Description, Location and Source, then import the file into the timeline. Every row shows in the preview and nothing is saved until you confirm it. An import adds events; it does not change the ones already there. There is no API, so no assistant can write to your timeline on its own.

Can I try it before paying? Yes. Every account starts with a free timeline of up to 20 events, with no card required. You can also browse the examples and the product tour without signing up at all.
How much does it cost, and in what currency? All prices are in US dollars. Every account starts free with one timeline. Extra timeline slots are bought outright at $2.99 each, or $25 for ten, and they never expire and never renew. Advanced is charged a month at a time: $12 buys a month of unlimited timelines and events, and it renews each month until you cancel it, which you can do at any time on your profile page. The pricing page lists the current plans and what each one includes.
What do I actually get when I buy a plan? Room on your account, mostly. A timeline slot raises how many timelines you can create and how many events fit in each. Advanced, Business and Founding Member remove both ceilings entirely. Advanced and above also add three things a free account and a single slot do not have: import from a file, sharing and embedding, and the Ribbon, Log and Doc styles. Photos, maps, the other styles and all three exports are in the free plan already. Nothing is downloaded and no file changes hands. The pricing page has the numbers.
What is a timeline slot? Room for one more timeline. A slot costs $2.99, bought outright, and holds a timeline of up to 50 events; ten slots cost $25. A slot is spent when you create a timeline, and slots never expire and never renew. They do not add import from a file, sharing and embedding, or the Ribbon, Log and Doc styles: those are what Advanced adds.
What does Advanced add? It removes both ceilings, so you can have as many timelines as you like with as many events in each, and it adds importing a whole file of events at once, sharing and embedding, collaborators on a timeline, and the Ribbon, Log and Doc styles. It costs $12 a month and renews each month until you cancel it; after a cancellation it runs to the end of the month you paid for. What happens then is under What happens if I stop paying.
How is a purchase delivered, and how long does it take? The new limits apply to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed, usually within a few seconds. You do not need to enter a licence key or wait for an email.
Can I use Boromlia for commercial or client work? Yes. Your plan is a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service, and nothing restricts what the timelines you build are for. Personal, professional or client-facing are all fine. What you may not do is resell, sublicense or redistribute access to Boromlia itself. The full grant is set out in the Terms of Service.
Can I get a refund? A paid plan reaches your account the moment the payment clears, so purchases are final and payments are non-refundable. Cancelling Advanced stops the next payment, but it does not refund the month already paid for, and a timeline slot is final once bought. That is what the free plan is for: no card, no time limit, and as long as you want to decide. If a charge looks like a mistake rather than a change of mind, taken twice, taken after you cancelled, or never delivered at all, email support@boromlia.com and I will look into it. Why does a name other than Boromlia appear on my statement? Because the charge goes through WayForPay, which processes the card payments. It shows up under their name rather than mine, usually as "WFP" or "WAYFORPAY", often with a Ukrainian city after it. That is the payment for your Boromlia plan, and it is genuine. Boromlia is still the seller: the contract of sale is with me, and so is anything you need afterwards, whether that is an invoice or an answer about the billing.
Why is my statement in hryvnia when the price is in dollars? Because the payment is taken in Ukraine. Prices are set in US dollars and nothing is added on top, no tax and no surcharge, but WayForPay takes the money in hryvnia at its own exchange rate. Unless you hold a hryvnia card, your bank converts it back at a rate of its own, so your statement can read a little either side of the listed price. Some banks add a foreign-transaction fee on top of that. Those are your bank's charges, not mine. What reaches me is the listed price in dollars, and that is the figure on any invoice I send you.
Where do I find my invoice or order history? Email support@boromlia.com from the address you bought with and I will send the invoice. You also get a receipt by email at the checkout, and it carries the order reference. The plan itself is on the Pricing page whenever you are signed in.
Do I pay VAT or sales tax? Nothing is added at checkout, no tax and no surcharge, so the figure on the Pricing page is the whole price. (It is taken in hryvnia, though; see the question above.) Boromlia is a Ukrainian sole trader and accounts for its own taxes under Ukrainian law. It does not calculate or collect VAT or sales tax for any other country. If where you live taxes digital services bought from abroad, that is between you and your tax authority. Your bank may charge a conversion fee, which is separate from the price.
