Boromlia release notes

What changed in Boromlia each week since the first version in September 2025, kept as a Boromlia timeline you can read in any style.

What changed in Boromlia each week, from the first version in September 2025 to today. One entry for every week that shipped something, written for the people who use it.

A new entry every Wednesday.

Release notes, kept as a timeline

Every entry on this page is an event on a Boromlia timeline: dated, tagged and illustrated, readable in any of its styles, filterable by tag, printable, and playable as a story. A product changelog, a project history or a roadmap can be kept the same way.

Doc, a new style: the timeline as a document

A timeline can now be read, and printed, as an A4 document, and phones get a lighter first load. • Doc, a new style: the timeline set as an A4 document, with a title page and contents • Phones load faster: analytics now wait until the page is up • Five fixes for phones: no more cut-off text or sideways scrolling, and form fields no longer zoom in • Three new comparison pages, and one plain vocabulary across the site • File import joins the Advanced plan

Reliable link previews, and a Product menu

Shared links preview reliably everywhere, and the site gets a clearer way in. • Share pictures served by Boromlia itself, so link previews always load • Spans ends its axis where the story ends • A Product menu in the site navigation, and a contents list for the tour • Use-case pages for teaching and legal chronologies rewritten

Chapters side by side, and print what you see

Chapters that happened at the same time now run in parallel, and printing follows the screen. • Chapters that overlap drawn side by side as parallel lanes • Print exactly the style you are looking at • Ribbon tracks that fold • A timeline's display settings saved for every reader • Comparison pages that set Boromlia beside other timeline tools, and every page rewritten in one plain voice

The Ribbon: the whole story on one horizontal run

A new style lays the story out end to end, and touch screens get pinch to zoom. • The Ribbon, a new style: one horizontal run with continuous zoom and a single Scale control • Pinch to zoom on phones and tablets • A sketch of each style on an empty timeline, so a new one never looks blank • The product tour split into basics and advanced

Advanced goes monthly, and maps get a legend

A subscription you can stop in one click, and maps that explain their own colours. • Advanced becomes a monthly subscription, cancelled from the profile in one click • A map legend, and a pin you drop to set a place • Chapters fold away, in every style • Every style and dialog fits a phone • Timeline settings split into Main and Visibility tabs

Import from a spreadsheet, embed anywhere, pay online

Bring events in from a file, put a timeline on any website, and buy a plan online. • Import events from a CSV or TSV file, with every row previewed before it is saved • Embed a live timeline on any website with one line of code • Filter a timeline by its events' category, tags, source and dates • Online payments, and the Advanced plan by the month • Stop sharing a timeline at any time

Print as a real document, and display settings for every style

Export becomes a document set for A4 paper, and each style gets controls of its own. • Print or save as PDF with a print design of its own, set for A4 • A View panel for each style, and a shared Scale setting: space events by real time, or evenly • The phone experience rebuilt around reading and sharing • Reorder the photos inside an event, and jump back to the top of long timelines • A share link now opens only for people who have it

People, sources, and settings organised around the reader

Timelines say who is in them and where each fact came from, and settings follow who is reading. • Timelines get a category and the people in them, and events get people and a source • A reworked settings sidebar, organised around who is reading • Exports fixed • A branded sign-up confirmation email • The product described in plain language across the site

From a folder of photos to a timeline, in one pass

Add a batch of photos and Boromlia builds the events from their dates and places. • Bulk photo import that reads each photo's date and location • Log, a new style: one sortable row per event • Styles renamed: River, Cards, Map and Spans • The whole app works on a phone screen • Sharing reworked: the owner decides who can view, add and edit

Pricing, a product tour and a profile page

A clearer path from first visit to first timeline, and a plain account of what things cost. • A new home page and a step-by-step product tour • A redesigned pricing page • A profile page for your account and plan • PDF fixes, and links allowed in descriptions • Reordering events made faster

Editing in a side drawer, and the groundwork for plans

Events are edited next to the timeline, and the foundation for paid plans is laid. • Add and edit events in a drawer, with the timeline still in view • Timeline slots and plans: the base for paid features • Archive a timeline instead of deleting it • Event details open with the photo set beside the text • Phone layouts for the menu, River and Spans

Chapters, tags, covers and filters

Timelines gain structure: group events into chapters, tag them, and find any moment fast. • Chapters that group events into parts of the story • Tags on timelines and events, and a place for each timeline • A cover photo for every timeline • Filters and sort on timelines, on the dashboard and on Examples • Readable web addresses for every timeline

A new home page, and link previews that show the timeline

The home page shows what a timeline looks like, and shared links now introduce themselves. • A new home page built around a live timeline preview • Date and time stamps on every card • Shared links unfold with the timeline's own title and picture in chats and posts • Private timelines kept out of search results

A new look for Boromlia

A full redesign: new type, colour and layout on every page. • A new design system across the home page, dashboard, timeline pages and dialogs • Map and Spans rebuilt for the new design, Spans with zoom and scroll • Oldest-first or newest-first on every style • Cards laid out on an even grid, with details that open in place • Rewritten Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

A calmer redesign, and the Gantt-style chart for all

The site takes on a quieter look, and the reworked Gantt-style chart opens to everyone. • A calmer visual design across the site • The reworked Gantt-style chart, today's Spans, available to every account

Photo collages and sturdier sharing

Events with several photos lay them out as a collage, and shared timelines hold together. • Photo collages inside event cards • Shared timelines fixed end to end • A faster, safer bulk photo upload • Layout improvements on phones • Public timelines listed for search engines

Span events: moments that last

An event can now have a start and an end, so trips, projects and eras show their real length. • Start and end dates on any event • Spans drawn as bars, and reorderable by hand • The Map style opens to every account • A reworked Examples gallery • Stronger search visibility for public pages

A dashboard for all your timelines

Everything you have made, on one page, with a picture of each. • A dashboard listing every timeline with a thumbnail • A reworked profile, with your name on it • The place of an event shown on its card • Dates can carry a time of day

Map: every event in its place

Events get a location, and a new style draws the story as a route across a map. • A map style, today's Map, that places each event on a real map and draws the route between them • Adjustable spacing between River cards • Photos grouped automatically when several are uploaded at once • A smoother first visit for people without an account

Back to building: timelines for any story

After a winter break, Boromlia widens from a personal journal to timelines for any purpose. • The home page repositioned: timelines for personal stories, projects and presentations alike • A first Gantt-style chart, the ancestor of today's Spans style • A preview of each style inside the style picker • Better handling of event photos, and a reworked settings window

Try every style on the examples

Visitors can restyle an example timeline and picture their own story in each look. • Switch styles on example timelines, no account needed • Edit your timeline's description in place • PDF export with aligned cards and images • New examples: a baby's first year and four years at university

Sign in with Google, and Cards for everyone

Signing up now takes one click, and the Cards style opens to every account. • Sign up and sign in with a Google account • The Cards style available to all, with a divider for each year • A new Examples page, built from real timelines • The two-sided River layout restored and refined

The Cards style, legal pages and a test site

A second complete style, the legal basics, and a safer way to ship changes. • The Cards style (first called Monthly Milestones): a grid that shows a whole period at a glance • Privacy Policy and Terms of Service • Each timeline keeps the style it was given • Pages open to search engines, with a sitemap • Every change now passes through a test site before it reaches you

A gallery of styles, and dates at the right precision

Styles get names of their own, and each timeline remembers how it should be shown. • A gallery of named styles, previewed before they open to everyone • Dates shown at the precision the timeline needs • Cards kept in true date order • Timeline settings saved with the timeline • Card layouts fixed for tablets and phones

Styles: one story, more than one look

The first alternative layouts arrive, and any timeline can switch between them. • A style picker on every timeline • A one-sided layout next to the classic two-sided line • Example timelines filled with photographs

Rich text, and public or private timelines

Descriptions stop being plain text, and every timeline says who can see it. • Rich text in descriptions: bold, lists and links • A public or private label on every timeline • Share links that open reliably • Cleaner PDF export: cards no longer print pale • The Add event button moves to the top of the timeline

Boromlia goes live at boromlia.com

The product gets its name, its own address and a public home page. • Public launch at boromlia.com, with its own logo • Several timelines per account, each with its own name • Several photos per event, and events can be deleted • Share a timeline with a link • A layout tuned for phones

The first version: a line of moments

Boromlia starts as one simple idea: put the moments that matter on a single line, in order. • A vertical timeline with a card for each event • Add and edit events with a date, a description and a photo • Accounts: sign up, sign in and come back to your timeline • A first export to PDF, and a sample timeline to explore
