Boromlia vs Canva for timelines: add an event and the timeline redraws, with a map, photos and sources, instead of moving shapes on a template.
Canva’s timeline maker is a design template: you place the dates, lines and text boxes yourself. Boromlia is a timeline tool: you add events, and the timeline is drawn from them, in several styles, as often as you change it.
A template looks finished on the first day and gets harder to keep up every day after. In Boromlia each event is stored as data: a date or a range, a place with coordinates, a source, people, tags, rich text and photos. Insert an event between two others and the layout makes room; correct a date and every style shows the correction. Filters then show only what you need, by tag, category or period.
You can still print it. Every plan exports an A4 PDF of the timeline in the style you are viewing.
