Boromlia vs Flourish for timelines: keep the chronology private while you report it, then publish or embed it, with a map and a source per event.
Flourish turns a spreadsheet into an interactive timeline chart, one of many visualisation templates for newsrooms. Boromlia is a timeline editor: you build and check the chronology event by event, privately, and publish when it is ready.
Flourish is a visualisation layer over your data: the spreadsheet is the record, and the timeline is one way to draw it. In Boromlia the timeline is the record. Each event has typed fields for the date, the place, the source, the people, the tags and the photos, and a CSV can go in on Advanced and come out on every plan, so it can still live in a spreadsheet when you need it to.
Flourish shows a category as a coloured band. Boromlia splits the same idea in two: chapters for the periods a story moves through, and tags for the threads that cut across them, such as a person, a company or a court.
