History timelines
8 public history timelines built with Boromlia: periods and events, dated and sourced. Read one as an interactive timeline, or on a map of where it happened.
Periods, events and sourced chronologies, in the order they happened.
History from the first cities to the present day, including a world timeline that runs from 3200 BC to now. Dates before the year 1 are written as BC and sort in the right order, and periods that lasted are drawn as spans rather than single points. Some of these follow a family across generations, the Kennedys from a farm in Wexford among them; one follows a single city, Valencia, through its whole past.

World History Timeline: The Historical Periods from 3200 BC to Today - Five thousand years of human history, told period by period, from the first clay tablets at Uruk to the present day and across every inhabited continent. Most entries are spans of time, the life of a kingdom or the length of an age; a few are single days that changed what came after. Dates before about 1000 BC are approximate, as are most ancient population figures and death tolls, and where historians disagree the text says so. Images: Wikimedia Commons.
The Evolution of Valencia - From a Roman colony of retired soldiers to Calatrava's city of the future: more than 2,100 years of Valencia in a single thread, told in five chapters. Conquerors and poets, floods and rebirth. Sources: Wikimedia Commons.
Troy. Legacy - Troy lost the war, then spent the next two and a half thousand years quietly conquering Europe. This is the story of the Trojans after the defeat: the refugees who sailed west, the Roman epic that made Aeneas the ancestor of the Caesars, and the medieval fashion in which Franks, Britons, Normans, Welsh, Icelanders and Venetians all claimed the blood of Priam, because Troy was older, and therefore nobler, than Rome itself. One strand is ancient myth. Almost all the rest is political invention, and each card says which. Companion piece to The Odyssey: the same war, told from the losing side. Sources: Wikimedia Commons. Events before the Christian era are compressed at the head of the thread, and the true date is given in every card title.
Donald Trump: A Life - The life of Donald J. Trump as a factual timeline: the Queens building business, Manhattan real estate, reality television, and two terms as President of the United States. Compiled from public reporting and reference works, and brought up to date on 4 September 2026. Images are public-domain or freely licensed. The bars mark the eras of his working life.
Apollo 11: The First Moon Landing - The first crewed Moon landing, hour by hour: the Saturn V launch, the descent to Tranquility Base, Armstrong's first step, the experiments left on the surface, and splashdown in the Pacific. All times shown are UTC.
The Kennedys: From a Wexford Farm to the White House, 1823 to 2020 - Four generations of one Irish family, from a tenant farm in County Wexford to the presidency and back to the same farmyard. Each chapter is a generation, with the Fitzgeralds, Rose Kennedy's family, as a parallel line. Every person is a lifespan from birth to death, so the Spans view shows who overlapped with whom; the Map draws the arc from Dunganstown to East Boston, Brookline and Hyannis Port. The records of poor emigrants are thin and often contradict each other, and where they do, the event says so. The timeline ends with the nine children of Joseph and Rose Kennedy, the last of whom died in 2020.
Queen Victoria's Descendants: The Grandmother of Europe, 1819 to 1918 - Nine children, forty-two grandchildren, and most of the thrones of Europe married into one family. Each chapter follows one line of descent: Albert Edward in Britain and Norway, the Princess Royal in Prussia and Greece, Alice in Hesse and Russia, Alfred in Coburg and Romania, Beatrice in Battenberg and Spain, and the four children who stayed closer to home. Every person is a lifespan from birth to death, so the Spans view shows the generations overlapping; the Map shows the family spreading out from London. The tag haemophilia follows one gene from Victoria through three generations. The story ends in 1918, after four years in which her grandsons' countries had been at war with one another.
American Presidents - Every American presidency since 1789, drawn as a span from the day the president took office to the day he left it. Forty-seven presidencies, forty-five men: Grover Cleveland and Donald Trump each served two non-consecutive terms and hold two numbers apiece. Eight presidents died in office, four of them by assassination. One resigned. Spans are colored by party. The current term ends on 20 January 2029.
